Case study

Atlas Copco

Atlas Copco is a Swedish multinational founded in 1873, manufacturing compressors, vacuum equipment, assembly tools and power systems for customers in around 180 countries. Their UK operations span six manufacturing plants and 15 sales companies.

This is how Traffi helped Atlas Copco reduce both the environmental impact and cost of their disposable glove programme.

What was the initial problem?

Atlas Copco's previous gloves were not lasting long enough, which led to an unusually high rate of usage and disposal. This had cost implications for the business, both environmental and financial.

Why Traffi?

Atlas Copco needed a disposable glove that reduced both the environmental impact and the cost of high usage. Traffi engaged with Atlas Copco to understand their needs and recommended the TD04 Sustain Disposable, a more sustainable alternative to a standard nitrile disposable that could be trialled before any wider switch.

OUR SOLUTION

After engaging with Atlas Copco to understand their requirements, Traffi recommended the TD04 Sustain Disposable. Operatives trialled the glove and, following a successful trial, Atlas Copco were keen to switch as soon as possible.

TRAFFI'S SUPPORT INCLUDED

  • Engaging with Atlas Copco to understand their requirements

  • A trial of the TD04 Sustain Disposable with operatives

  • A recommended glove matched to their cost and sustainability goals

THE RESULT

As Traffi's first biodegradable nitrile disposable glove, the TD04 offers 78.8% biodegradability in 986 days. With its high stretch and dexterity, operatives found it more comfortable than the previous option, and the textured surface improved grip and control when handling smaller objects.

Where the average nitrile disposable glove takes over 100 years to biodegrade, the TD04 offers 78.8% biodegradation in 986 days.

The switch also delivered a significant cost saving of more than £8,000 per year, reducing both the environmental and financial impact of the company's disposable glove programme.
