Case study

Bradfords

Bradfords Building Supplies is a family-owned builders' merchant with roots going back to 1770, today operating from over 45 branches across the South West of England. With staff handling materials daily across a large branch network, hand protection is an everyday operational requirement.

This is how Traffi supported Bradfords in reducing their reliance on disposable nitrile gloves while maintaining protection for staff during a period of market disruption.

What was the initial problem?

Bradfords approached Traffi during the pandemic, looking to ensure the safety of their staff while reducing their nitrile glove usage. Having already implemented the Traffi hand protection programme, they trusted the brand and wanted support in further reducing wastage.

With staff handling materials daily across more than 45 branches, hand protection is an everyday operational requirement. The shortage and rising cost of nitrile during the pandemic made a durable, reusable alternative increasingly important to the business.

Why Traffi?

Bradfords already trusted Traffi through their existing hand protection programme, and turned to Traffi for a durable, reusable alternative to disposable nitrile gloves. They needed something that would maintain protection for staff while reducing wastage and giving reliable availability during a period of significant market disruption and nitrile shortages.

OUR SOLUTION

Traffi recommended the TG1240 as a replacement for nitrile disposable gloves. After a trial, it was clear the TG1240 provided added protection and significantly outperformed the nitrile disposables on longevity, lasting up to five weeks per pair.

TRAFFI'S APPROACH INCLUDED

TRAFFI'S APPROACH INCLUDED

  • A recommended glove, the TG1240, to replace nitrile disposables

  • A trial to compare protection and longevity

  • Support for reducing wastage during the nitrile shortage

  • An LXT carbon neutral glove to support sustainability goals

THE RESULT

With nitrile in short supply across the market, using the TG1240 also gave Bradfords reliable availability. The glove supported their goal of reducing their carbon footprint by 63% by 2030, while maintaining protection for staff and reducing the wastage associated with disposables.

The TG1240 lasted up to five weeks per pair, significantly outperforming the nitrile disposables it replaced and reducing wastage across Bradfords' branches.

It also gave Bradfords reliable availability during the nitrile shortage, and supported their goal of reducing their carbon footprint by 63% by 2030 as an LXT carbon neutral glove.

Word from Client

“I approached Marcus at Traffi as we wanted to ensure the safety of our employees during these difficult times, and with nitrile gloves leaping up in price every day, the TG1240 offers great protection, due to having nitrile built in. We issued two pairs to every person, and the fact that these can be washed whilst still on, left to dry and then used again, makes them perfect, and with 2 pairs, there is always a dedicated pair available. We have been using these gloves for more than 5 weeks now and have not replaced a single pair. Not only are they cost effective, but our staff feel happy using them, which is the real benefit.”
