Huhtamäki is a global food packaging company founded in Finland in 1920, operating across more than 100 locations in 35 countries with around 17,400 employees. Their UK operations include production and engineering teams, whose tasks range from handling packaging materials to working with oils and machinery.
This is how Traffi, alongside distribution partner Rubix, supported Huhtamaki in building a more structured approach to glove selection.
At Huhtamaki, the policy only required gloves for knives or pallets, and the available selection was unpopular, with operatives often not wearing gloves or wearing ill-suited ones. In engineering, the gloves lacked the durability needed for oils and grease.
Assisted by Rubix, Traffi carried out a glove audit and recommended the TG7360 for production and the TG6240 for engineering. Both were well received in trials and Huhtamaki rolled them out across the business.
From the initial glove audit through to today, Traffi and Rubix have supported Huhtamaki every step of the way, pairing the product with hand sizing charts, posters and educational videos so the ongoing support remains practical and consistent. The TG7360 offered Cut Level F, three times higher than the previous glove; the TG6240 offered over twice the protection.
While hand protection was available at Huhtamaki, the policy only required workers to wear gloves when using knives or handling pallets. The available selection was unpopular, and operatives were seen either not wearing gloves or wearing ill-suited ones.
Although handling cardboard does not necessarily pose a high cut risk, there was concern that regular handling could lead to longer-term dry skin problems. In the engineering department, the gloves in use did not provide the durability needed for handling oils and grease.
Huhtamaki needed a structured approach to glove selection that operatives would actually adopt, with the right level of protection for each task across both production and engineering. Working alongside distribution partner Rubix, Traffi offered a glove audit and task-matched recommendations to address this, backed by trials in the real working environment.
Assisted by Rubix, Marcus from Traffi carried out a glove audit, compiled his observations and presented them to Huhtamaki alongside several product suggestions. Trials were then carried out, the feedback was strong, and Huhtamaki were keen to roll the gloves out across the business.

The TG7360, part of the LXT ultrafine range, is thin, dextrous and offers Cut Level F protection, three times higher than the existing glove. For engineering, the TG6240 offers over twice the protection of the previous gloves, with a durable coating suited to oily conditions.
Both the selected gloves were well received in trials and Huhtamaki rolled them out across the business.
